"Think Globally, Act Locally" - This principle of Soroptimist is the heart and soul of Soroptimist International of Jakarta. Soroptimist members are encouraged to raise their own and others' awareness of issues of global concern affecting women and girls. Soroptimists Advocate for policy commitments and social changes that will improve the status of women and promote sustainable communities.

Around the world, Soroptimists work at their local and national level on activities and projects which meet the 8 objectives of Education, Elimination of violence, Economic empowerment, Food security, Healthcare, Environmental sustainability/water and sanitation, Conflict resolution/peace promotion, Disaster relief, mitigation, and resilience. The work achieved through these projects provides opportunities to Educate, Empower and Enable women and girls to plan for their future, allows for their economic growth, and opens doors to their dreams.

Since 1992, Soroptimist International of Jakarta has undertaken numerous projects, such as the Lombok Earthquake Recovery Project: through Water, Shelter and Capacity Building (2019-2021); Rebuilding the Lamreh Village Project (Aceh) after the tsunami in 2004; providing assistance in Bayat (Jogya) after the earthquake (building schools and giving scholarships); Cisarua Village Women's Empowerment Project; Krueng Kala Micro Hydro Power Plant Project (Aceh); Padang Community Center Project; Mentoring Project for South Tangerang Junior High School Students, and many more.

SI Jakarta is a member of the SISWP (Soroptimist International South West Pacific) Federation, one of five federations under Soroptimist International. Every two years, SI Clubs have the opportunity to support the SISWP Federation’s Project. Every two years, SI Clubs have the opportunity to support the SISWP Federation’s Project. 

 

With the direction from Federation President (2020-2022) Suman Lal, this biennium’s theme is Embrace and Create “Pathways to Prosperity” with one voice and statement “We Stand Up For Women”, celebrating 100 years of existence of our Bright Past and bringing in the change for a Brilliant Future.
